Mane on Fire Farm’s third annual KWPN-NA Keuring was held on September 5th, 2023. The entries were impressive, the weather sweltering, and the day fun and lighthearted!
Tzarina MFF by H&M Chilli Willi (Casall/Lord/Cor de la Bryere) out of Undercover (Indoctro/Calvados) proved to be quite a show-stopper. Sire Chilli Willi jumped to 1.65 m, while dam Undercover jumped to 1.45 m and has already produced offspring to 1.30 m. Tzarina inherited her sire’s leggy type, and rocking-horse canter. She also inherited a social butterfly personality with a particularly strong independent streak, leading to plenty of entertainment in the show ring. As the judges encouraged the pair to show their gaits off loose around the arena, Tzarina returned several times to the middle of the ring, curiously watching her dam trot circles around the judges as she stuck her nose in the photographer’s camera. This barn favorite placed 1st for Jumper Foals, and 1st Overall for Jumpers in the Keuring. For all of North America, her scores also earned 3rd Overall, Jumper Foal Futurity, and 4th Overall, all Jumper Foals.
Mane on Fire Farm presented one hunter foal, Tabasco MFF by Balou du Rouet (Baloubet/Continue) out of Larasch DR (Landsieger I/Raphael/Duellgraf). Larasch had an extensive hunter career in the 3’6″ Junior Hunters, and Tabasco showed the flat-kneed trot and canter he inherited from her.
All in all, it was an enjoyable Keuring, and we look forward to the next in 2024!
