Rha'ella MFF

YOB: 2017

Height: TBD

Color: Bay

Breed: Westfalen (RPSI)

Breed Approvals: TBD

Genetic Testing: TBD

Rha’ella is a lovely young filly by Balt’Amour/Cavallo Star. She has shown correct conformation and a lovely, flat-kneed trot. As she ages, we have begun to notice she is reasonable and sweet to work with.

Balt’Amour is by Balta Czar out of a mare by Ariadus/Cheenook. This effectively stacks his pedigree with three good hunter producers that both bring different qualities to the table. Balta Czar brings a strong topline and correct hind end coupled with flat-kneed movement, while Ariadus adds scope and elasticity in movement. Cheenook led the USEF Hunter Sires Rankings in 2007-2009, peaking at #1 in 2008.

We expect this filly to finish as a traditional hunter type, and plan on breeding her accordingly.

Mareline

Rha’ella’s dam Chimera unfortunately had a pasture injury (kick to the hock) that ended her show career before it even began. Rha’ella is the first of Chimera’s foals, and thus she will be the first to represent the mareline in sport. Chimera is expecting a second foal, this time by Apiro, in 2019. We look forward to seeing how they each develop!

Sires of Note

Balt’Amour is by Balta Czar out of a mare by Ariadus/Cheenook. This effectively stacks his pedigree with three good hunter producers that both bring different qualities to the table. Balta Czar brings a strong topline and correct hind end coupled with flat-kneed movement, while Ariadus adds scope and elasticity in movement. Alla Czar, sire of Balta Czar, barely needs an introduction as he very much defined what we wanted in a hunter “type”! The rocking horse canter, effortless jump, and textbook form over fences? Alla Czar exemplified all of those qualities, and tended to pass them on to his offspring. Cheenook, grand damsire of Balt’Amour, led the USEF Hunter Sires Rankings in 2007-2009, peaking at #1 in 2008. He was an exemplary dual-purpose stallion, producing at least 25 horses that jumped to 1.50 m or higher AND three offspring that competed in Grand Prix Dressage!

Dam Chimera is by Cavallo Star, whose pedigree rings of old Dutch blood. These names include Ulft, Mexico, Marco Polo and Legaat. Legaat was then doubled up on in the 5th and 6th generations with the cross back to Balt’Amour, as Legaat is the damsire of Alla Czar! Cavallo is a prepotent producer of size, strong topline, and good movement, and as such tends to stamp his progeny. Chimera was no exception; she was almost his twin! Her dam Renaissance Maiden contributes some blood to the equation. Chimera’s riding career was unfortunately cut short by a very back kick to the hock as a young horse, but she showed an excellent work ethic and kind temperament in her younger years before her early retirement. It is this temperament that we are beginning to see in Rha’ella, much to our joy! The goal with this bloodline is to stamp each subsequent generation with that same willingness and work ethic; a quality that some marelines can pass on dominantly.
