Kona KF is an extremely typey 2015 broodmare by highly successful hunter Cartier R. Her gorgeous topline is not even the best among her assets; she also has jaw-dropping movement that is both flat-kneed and elastic as well as very correct conformation. In terms of temperament, she is sweet and quite careful. Kona’s dam, Ronansact, has already produced two other talented hunters. Just for Fun KF (Great Pleasure) is a four-year-old that has been regularly bringing home the Champion ribbon in the 3’3″ Green Working Hunters, just as he did in the 3′ Green Hunters and 2’6″ Hunters! Intuition KF (Banderas) showed a great deal of talent through the jump chute. Kona fits the model of an upper level hunter broodmare!

Sires of Note

Kona’s sire Cartier R competed successfully in the 5 Year Old Young Jumpers, the 3’3″ Performance Working Hunters, the A/O Hunters, the Adult Hunters, the Green Conformation Hunters, and the ever prestigious Hunter Derby Circuit. Oh, by the way – he was born in 2009, so as I write this description, he’s only 9 years old! He tends to add good temperaments, types, athletic ability, and hooves to his offspring.

His sire, Cassini I, competed to 1.60 m himself with success up to the World Cup and Nations Cup levels. He became well known as both a wonderful producer of jumpers and hunters. He is on the 2017 WBFSH Jumping Sires list at #23, despite not having been available to breed for a number of years. He is also on the 2017 USEF Hunter Sires list at #9 with full brother Cassini II at #5 . In addition, his son Berlin sits on the WBFSH list at #10. He has both the scope necessary to produce successful jumpers, the bascule ideal in a hunter, and the movement necessary to pin in the hack. He also contributes rideability to the equation; always an important feature. Such notable offspring of his are Cascina and Ranger, who are each currently making Indoor Circuit (Washington International, Capital Challenge, Hampton Classic…) rounds with great success in the Amateur Owner Hunters. In addition, he has over 150 offspring that have shown to 1.60 m. While they are far too many to list, you may recognize his son Eurocommerce Berlin (Caspar), Coohiba, St. Lucia, Coronado, Cabrio Van De Heffnick, Equita Van’t Zorgvliet, and World Cup winner Cumano!

Acorado I is another such example of a dual hunter/jumper stallion. He currently sits on the USEF Hunter Sires List at #17 for 2018, and jumped to 1.50 m in his heyday. He has 47 offspring listed on HorseTelex that have shown to 1.60 m, and seems not only produce talent at the upper levels, but also longevity – several of his oldest offspring (1999, 2000, etc) have results on HorseTelex within the last couple of years.

Offspring

Kona KF is being bred for her first foal; sired by Rotspon, we have no doubt this youngster will be an upper level hunter superstar!
